Pediatric Dental Services

At Villalon Callis Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we agree with The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) when they recommend you find your child’s “Dental Home” by age one or when the first tooth emerges, whichever occurs first. It has been shown that establishing your child’s “Dental Home” provides the opportunity to implement preventive dental health habits that keep a child free from dental/oral disease. Our focus is on prevention, early detection, and treatment of dental diseases. We work to keep current on the latest advances in dentistry for children, and our services reflect just that.

We want to help all children feel good about visiting the dentist and educate them on how to care for their teeth. From our fun office designs to our communication style, our main concern is what is best for your child.

Sedation Dentistry

Oral Sedative

For treatments that may last longer or cause more discomfort, we will often recommend a mild oral sedative that your child can take before treatment. Every effort is made to ensure proper dosage and limit mild side effects if any.

Nitrous Oxide

We use Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” to help children become more comfortable during certain procedures. Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. It is not intended to put them to sleep but instead is designed to help them feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide are temporary and wear off soon after the mask is removed.

Deep Sedation

More complex treatments may require deeper sedation to relieve both pain and anxiety. On occasion, deep sedation through an IV may be used for a temporary loss of consciousness. Your child’s comfort and safety are especially important to us.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Professional Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening (bleaching) can enhance a smile by making it brighter.  It first requires an exam by one of the doctors at Villalon Callis Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics to assess whether whitening would be beneficial.  The whitening treatments are completed at home following the instructions provided by our staff.

Here are some reasons why one may consider whitening:

  • Fluorosis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development)
  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.) or diet
  • Natural yellowish tooth color

We Offer:

  • Zirconia/Nusmiles: White crowns used on baby teeth.
  • Composite Crowns: White crowns made out of filling material.
